The first steps towards a NASCAR career occurred for Brenton Michael Thornton, 22 yrs old African American ,a native of Toledo, Ohio, as he completed his first laps behind the wheel of the #89 Lafferty Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Chevrolet for the Concord, North Carolina based NASCAR team in late September.
The private test was held at Hickory Motor Speedway. Upon completion of the test, Brenton became an official Development Driver for NASCAR team Lafferty Motorsports owner Christopher Lafferty.
Later this year, Brenton will be continuing his steps towards NASCAR with more test sessions and future goals consists of racing in the street stock division for Lafferty Motorsports and climbing towards the ARCA Re-Max Series, and the ultimate goal is the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series.
Brenton would like to thank all his sponsors for their continued support of his racing dreams and without their contribution; this race test would not have been possible. Angela, Keith & Carolyn Taylor, Hardy & Millie Thornton, and car owner Christopher Lafferty.
